Make the journey work for you
Start with the real travel party
Count every passenger, including children, organisers and accompanying adults. Check both directions: somebody joining only for the return still needs to be included. Keep passenger and bag totals separate so a change to one does not disappear inside an overall group number.
- List adults and children for each leg.
- Count suitcases separately from smaller cabin or day bags.
- Measure unusual items, including a folded pram or equipment case.
- Tell Connect if passengers need extra time or assistance when boarding.
Build a load manifest
These are examples of how to describe your load, not luggage allowances. Avoid “normal bags for everyone”: it does not tell the operator whether the group has small backpacks, large cases or sports equipment.
| Category | Example of a useful description |
|---|---|
| Passengers | [Adults] + [children], with [required restraints]. |
| Suitcases | [Number] large suitcases and [number] smaller cases. |
| Day bags | [Number] backpacks or cabin bags. |
| Bulky items | [Item], quantity and length × width × height. |
| Return changes | Extra people, purchases or equipment on the way back. |
Understand the Transit luggage arrangement
Connect’s existing Ford Transit page describes 16 passengers and an available storage trailer. It also states that the vehicle has no onboard luggage bay. If you are considering that vehicle, ask whether a trailer is needed and available for your full load. Do not assume the trailer is automatically included in a quote or that an unspecified amount of equipment will fit.
Three checks before you accept the booking
First, confirm that the quoted passenger total matches the final list. Second, make sure the luggage arrangement covers the items you described and any trailer requirement. Third, check whether additional loading time or access restrictions at your pickup need to be allowed for. Tell Connect promptly if your load changes.
- Airport group: count checked cases, carry-ons and restraints.
- Sports group: include personal bags and shared team kit.
- Event group: include display cases, instruments or overnight luggage as relevant.
Send a request the operator can assess
Include your route, date and required arrival time with the manifest. A clear load list helps the team discuss a practical arrangement and price before you travel. If you cannot measure an item yet, say that its size is provisional and confirm it before accepting an arrangement that depends on it.
Before you book
Does the Ford Transit have a luggage bay?
The existing Connect vehicle page states that it has no onboard luggage bay and that a storage trailer is available. Confirm the arrangement for your trip.
Can I use spare seats for luggage?
Do not plan luggage storage around spare seats. Give Connect the load list and ask for an appropriate agreed storage arrangement.
Is this a vehicle comparison page?
This guide prepares your load information. The existing Ford Transit page remains the place to view that vehicle and enquire about its use.
Choosing the transport arrangement? Compare a minibus with a driver.
Deciding how the booking works? Read private or shared shuttle.
Ready to compare offers? Use the shuttle quote worksheet.
