Make the journey work for you
Give every operator the same brief
Send the same date, addresses, passenger numbers, luggage and required times when requesting prices. Mark a return journey clearly, including a different return date if applicable. A one-way quote cannot fairly be compared with a return quote, and a single pickup is different from a route with several stops.
If you revise the brief, use a new version or date so everyone is quoting the same plan. Keep optional extras separate from the journey you definitely need.
Use a blank comparison worksheet
Fill these fields from each operator's written response. An unanswered field is something to ask about, not a free inclusion.
| Field | Record for each quote |
|---|---|
| Quoted journey | Date, all stops, outward and return times, passengers and agreed load. |
| Price basis | Total itinerary, per vehicle or per person; ask whether taxes and stated charges are included. |
| Waiting | Whether any waiting is included and how additional time is assessed. |
| Changes | Process and terms for a new stop, later finish or changed headcount. |
| Confirmation | What acceptance, payment or other step makes the booking confirmed. |
| Cancellation | The terms for cancelling and any relevant notice requirements. |
Test the quote against a likely change
Use a realistic scenario to identify missing terms before accepting. For example, if dinner finishes later than planned, ask how you should notify the operator and whether the later pickup can be accommodated. If another household joins, ask about the extra address as well as the additional passengers.
- Our venue changes the finish time: does this require a revised quote?
- Our return is now on another date: is it available?
- We add bulky equipment: does the vehicle arrangement change?
- We cancel one leg: which terms apply to the remaining booking?
These are questions to settle, not statements of Connect's cancellation or waiting policy.
Check Connect's published conditions
Connect encourages bookings at least 24 hours ahead and states that transport between 10pm and 7am has an additional cost. For a late return, make sure the quote reflects the actual time. The website also notes that a cleaning bond may apply to tours; ask whether that affects your itinerary.
Payment and confirmation arrangements should be agreed directly. The site advertises EFTPOS and major credit cards on board, but that does not settle any deposit, invoice or cancellation arrangement for your booking.
Accept the details as well as the amount
Before confirming, read back the date, pickup address, passenger total, destination and return. Check the mobile number and meeting instructions. Save the accepted quote with the final itinerary so the group organiser can find both if something changes.
For friends sharing a cost, wait until the total and terms are clear before calculating contributions. No price, discount or saving is assumed in this worksheet.
Before you enquire
Can I get a fare from this guide?
No. Request a quote for your actual route, date, passenger count and load.
Does submitting the form confirm a vehicle?
Treat the form as an enquiry. Wait for availability, price and the required confirmation steps to be agreed with Connect.
