Make the journey work for you
Count everyone who will travel
Start with the playing squad, then add coaches, managers, accompanying adults and any supporters travelling in the same booking. Keep a separate count for the return if people are leaving with family. For younger teams, the organiser should arrange the accompanying adults and responsibilities; transport is not a substitute for supervision.
- Record the total passengers for each leg.
- Identify the organiser travelling with the group.
- List all personal bags as well as shared team kit.
- Tell Connect about any child restraints or boarding requirements before booking.
Use a team-and-kit manifest
Connect’s Ford Transit has no onboard luggage bay; the vehicle page describes an available storage trailer. Ask for the load and trailer arrangement to be confirmed. The number of seats alone does not establish that every kit bag or equipment case can travel.
| Manifest section | What to record |
|---|---|
| People | Players, coaches, managers and other passengers, counted separately. |
| Personal luggage | Number and size of sports bags or overnight bags. |
| Team equipment | Item list and dimensions for bulky or unusually shaped pieces. |
| Fixture details | Venue address, required reporting time and expected finish. |
| Return | Meeting point, headcount and contingency for a changed finish. |
Work backwards from reporting time
Use the coach’s reporting or warm-up time as the arrival target. Build in unloading and the walk to the playing area. If a tournament has several possible finish times, send that range with the enquiry and ask what can be arranged. Do not book a return based only on the final whistle of the first scheduled game.
Keep travel changes with one organiser
Before departure, check the passenger list and tell the group where to meet. After the match, the organiser should reconcile who is returning before the vehicle leaves. Ask Connect how fixture delays, venue changes or extra stops should be handled. Trips beyond the published regions require a special arrangement, so send the destination before committing the team.
Before you book
Can you transport a team to training or a tournament?
Sports and team travel are listed on Connect’s Ford Transit page. Enquire with your dates and itinerary so availability can be assessed.
Does every team fit in the Transit?
Do not assume it. Review its published vehicle details, then confirm the full passenger and equipment load with Connect.
Is self-drive hire offered here?
This enquiry is for Connect’s transport service. It is not a self-drive vehicle rental offer.
