Make the journey work for you
Check how you will leave the ship
Port access is controlled, and a private road booking does not give a vehicle permission to meet you beside the ship. CentrePort's passenger information directs visitors to check their vessel's arrangements and sets out restrictions on collection at the port.
Follow the instructions for your own ship and date. Ask Connect to agree an accessible meeting point for the road journey before confirming an outing. Do not assume a taxi rank, cruise shuttle stop or another tour company's pickup instructions apply to your booking.
Calculate the time available on land
A port arrival time does not tell you when you can meet a driver. Disembarkation, any ship shuttle and the journey to the meeting point all use part of the day. The return needs the same care in reverse.
| Time to obtain | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Earliest shore access | Ask the ship when independent passengers can expect to leave, rather than using docking time alone. |
| Road meeting time | Allow time to reach the agreed city meeting point. |
| Latest return to ship | Use the ship's all-aboard instruction, including any shuttle deadline. |
| End of road outing | Agree a return time that leaves room for the final journey back aboard. |
Choose one priority and a flexible second stop
Start with the experience that matters most to your party. If an attraction has a timed admission, check availability but do not make the transport plan depend on an unconfirmed reservation. Give Connect the attraction name, visit duration and your shore-time limits.
A nearby optional stop is easier to remove than a tightly linked sequence of reservations. Ask whether the proposed route leaves enough room for the return. This guide does not promise a particular tour duration, route or guaranteed return to the ship.
Keep the ship and road arrangements separate
Your cruise line's excursion products may have different arrangements from an independently booked road journey. Check the terms of what you are buying. Ask who books admissions, which costs are separate and what happens if the ship's arrival or port call changes.
- Give the ship name and call date.
- Confirm a phone or other agreed contact that will work ashore.
- Keep the ship's latest return instruction with the road confirmation.
- Ask Connect to confirm the change and cancellation terms for this itinerary.
Do not infer port access or a cruise-line partnership from a general scenic-tour offer.
Send a realistic shore-day enquiry
If shore access cannot yet be confirmed, say so. Settle that dependency before locking in a road departure or a non-refundable activity.
